The Senate today adopted a resolution commending a dance group for bagging the top prize at a Hiphop dance competition held in Nevada, Las Vegas last August 14.

Senate Resolution 105 filed by Senator Grace Poe, was adopted in consideration of Senate Resolution No. 110, filed by Senator Nancy Binay, and Senate Resolution 127 filed by Senator Joel Villanueva.

Poe said the dance group UPeepz earned the gold medal for the MegaCrew Divison with a top score of 8.69 at the 2016 World Hiphop Dance Championship held at the Thomas Mack Center at the University of Nevada.

“The UPeepz defeated their rivals from other countries in the Mega Crew Division of the competition, including the dance crews Lock n Lol from South Korea and Royal Family from New Zealand, which placed second and third respectively,” the resolution said.

“The Upeepz is another living proof of the Filipino youth’s talent, skill and passion, a group that is very much worthy of praise and emulation given their humble beginnings,” the resolution added.

The Senate recognizes the vital role of the youth in nation-building and recognizes UPeepz’s achievement by commending and honouring them for bringing glory and honor to the country, according to the resolution.

For her part, Binay said UPeepz “displayed brilliance and excellence in the field of hip hop dancing by garnering titles from one of the most competitive dance events in the world.”

She said UPeepz’ outstanding performance in the 15th World Hip Hop Dance Championship showed the the international competitiveness and irrefutable skill and talent of the Filipino.
