SIX proudly South African dancers were the warriors doing battle at the recent Hip Hop Dance South Africa Championship.

ConQuer Crew from Alberton, coached by Wesley Grainger, competed in the 2016 Hip Hop International (HHI) South African Hip Hop Dance Championships – junior division.

Competing against the country’s finest crews, ConQuer Crew made it through to the semi-final and proceeded to the finals which took place the following day. They have subsequently been selected as one of the junior champions to represent South Africa at the HHI Dance Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA from August 8 to 13.

Hip Hop International is the world’s most celebrated dance event. Over 3 000 of the world’s best dancers will descend on Las Vegas for the 2016 World Hip Hop Dance Championship, where crews from over 50 nations will go head to head to capture the world title and stake claim to international bragging rights.

In Las Vegas they will have the opportunity not only to compete against the world’s finest but also to attend dance workshops hosted by world renowned dancers and choreographers like Tabitha and Napoleon from ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ and Dtrix, Ian Eastwood and Chachi Gonzalez from reality dance program, ‘America’s Best Dance Crew’.

The costs are high, but so are their spirits, enthusiasm and belief that the ConquerCrew dancers will get the opportunity of a lifetime. They will need all the help they can get, due to the high travelling and accommodation costs. Any assistance the team can get in the form of donations or sponsorships will help these children realise their dreams.

Contact Grainger on 082 762 4768 if you wish to assist these dedicated and passionate dancers. The hip-hop dancers are extremely honoured and looking forward to do SA and the South of Johannesburg proud at this prestigious event.

Keep your eyes on the press as well as social media in the coming weeks as the Reemicks Dance Studio fund-raising committee will be hosting a fund-raising fun day and walk at Rietvlei Zoo Farm on May 2.
